How to remove the background from a logo
Last updated October 26, 2026
Short answer
Open cutoutfree.com, choose your logo file (JPG, PNG or WebP), and the background is removed in a few seconds. Keep the checkerboard and click Download to get a transparent PNG for your website, a flyer, a T-shirt design or a video. It’s free, and your logo never leaves your device.
Step by step
- Use the biggest version you have. A large logo file gives clean, sharp edges. A tiny icon saved from a website stays blurry, because CutOutFree keeps the size of your file and doesn’t enlarge it.
- Open cutoutfree.com and choose the logo, drag it onto the page, or copy it and paste it with Ctrl+V.
- Wait a few seconds. The background is removed on your own device.
- Check it on your colors. Click a light and a dark color under Background, the way the logo will really be used, and look closely at the small text.
- Save it. Click the checkerboard again and click Download: you get a transparent PNG. Or keep a color and save a JPG.
What works best
- A logo on a plain white or single-color background, like most logo JPGs.
- Clear shapes: an icon, a name in bold letters, a badge or an emblem.
- A file at least a few hundred pixels wide.
Good to know before you use it
- White parts inside the logo can disappear. The AI can’t always tell a white detail from the white background, so white shapes or white letters inside your logo may become see-through. Check the result on a dark color.
- Thin text can get a faint light edge when the logo goes on a dark background. On white and light colors it doesn’t show.
- The original file is always best. If a designer made your logo, ask for the SVG, PDF or AI file: it is already transparent and stays sharp at any size. CutOutFree is for when all you have is a picture of the logo.
Where a transparent logo is useful
- The header of your website or online shop.
- Designs in Canva, PowerPoint or Word, on top of any color or photo.
- An email signature, business cards and flyers.
- A small logo in the corner of your own photos and videos.
- T-shirts, mugs and stickers: print shops usually ask for a transparent PNG.

Remove a backgroundQuestions
Will my logo lose quality?
No. The PNG has the same size as the file you open, up to 4096 pixels on the longest side. CutOutFree doesn’t enlarge small logos, so start from the biggest version you have.
Why did the white parts of my logo disappear?
The AI decides what is background, and white details inside a logo can look like part of the white background. Check the result on a dark color; if it matters, use the original file from your designer.
Can I put my logo on a different color?
Yes. Click any color under Background, or pick your exact brand color with the rainbow circle, then save a PNG or JPG.
Is my company logo uploaded anywhere?
No. The background is removed inside your browser, on your own device. The file is never sent to CutOutFree or anyone else.
